Tires and wheels

Draft

Onyx RCR tire size, pressure, axle torque, and what to watch on the hub motor wiring when the wheel is out.

  • Tires are 17 in x 2.75 in all-weather street tires, run with tubes. The manual covers replacing tire and tube, so plan on tube patches rather than tubeless plugs.
  • Pressure is 32 psi front and rear.
  • Front and rear axle nuts are 80 N·m with Loctite 271. Dropout widths are 108 mm front and 150 mm rear.
  • The rear hub motor has phase wires zip-tied to the swingarm. Inspect them at the 12-month service and avoid tugging them when the wheel is out.
  • If the chain slackens or pops off, the rear wheel has likely slid forward in the dropouts.

CTY2: 17 in x 3.00 in VuroStar tube-type tires, 32 psi, load rated to 386 lb per tire. Average tread life is quoted at 5 years or 12,000 miles. Rims are 17 x 1.60 in with laced 12-gauge stainless spokes, plus an inner liner and tube.
