Brakes
DraftOnyx RCR front and rear brake specs, pad and rotor sizes, fluid, and how to adjust the cable-pulled rear caliper.
Front
Single-piston hydraulic, right lever, 220 mm x 5 mm rotor, DOT 3 fluid, braided steel line. Check fluid through the reservoir window. If it feels soft, look for leaks or loose banjo bolts. If you find a leak, do not ride; have a motorcycle mechanic service it. The pads are Yamaha Zuma 50 (2002 to 2011) style, 49 x 27 x 4 mm, and replacements must match in shape.
Rear
A dual-piston hybrid caliper, 205 mm x 1.9 mm six-bolt rotor, pulled by cable from the left lever and acting on a hydraulic piston. Pads are mountain bike style, 34.2 x 26.6 x 4 mm. As pads wear and the cable settles, the cable needs adjusting. If the rear brake feels weak, adjust it first. Heavy rear brake users can lean on regen to cut wear.
Rear disc damage
The rear rotor is only 1.9 mm thick, so a loose caliper, a worn pad down to its backing plate, or a bent rotor can destroy it quickly. Owners have posted videos of damaged rear discs. If the rear brake grabs, pulses, or makes metallic noise, stop and inspect. CONFIRM: Alexander: your own diagnosis steps and fix for a damaged rear disc
